The City of Center Point, Alabama is a young community steeped in local history but striving for a sense of community. Grappling with issues of outward migration and a built-out landscape, city officials struggle to maintain their current population and a quality of life. 4SITE, Inc. and the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham were commissioned by the City of Center Point to implement a comprehensive planning and design initiative. Conscious of the ecological considerations and the necessity for a safe, multimodel transportation network, the results included the establishment of a new Town Center, the redevelopment of several commercial brownfield sites, the redesign of Reed Harvey Park and connectivity to the Five Mile Creek Greenway.
